    Tsechu Festival Cham Dancer

One of the main drivers that set our trip schedule was the festival season in Bhutan. The monsoons are pretty well over by the end of September, so the festival season starts. The largest and most important festival in Thimpu; the Tsechu runs for four days in the Dzong courtyard.

The place was packed, the dancers were out at mid-day (so the lighting was terrible) and the seating was downright awful. Nicely said, we had a great time. This is one of the beautifully costumed Cham dancers in the middle of a leap.

I'd say they also cost a bit more than your hockey jersey.

The music was slow and solemn, This is a Buddhist religious festival; music is definitely Asian sounding with horns (including long horns) and drums. Here are some of the musicians and their instruments.

…boy, would I like to have the chance to shoot things and events like that!
Next time, I'll dig myself in one of my coffer and you take me along, right?

Here, in central Europe, it's 19:23. What time is it there?

You probably wouldn't get those great cast shadows at any other time of the day. Nicely captured.
