    Yesterday evening at the demoiselles

The demoiselles in question are the Demoiselles de Caraybat, a small village near Foix in the South of France. They are a collection of limestone spires on the mountainside and according to legend they are the women of the local village who 'transgressed' while their husbands were at war and were turned to stone for their sins. They must have been some pretty hefty women is all I can say.

The afternoon was pretty much clouded over apart from some nice breaks in the cloud and so it was a case of waiting around for a break in the right place to get some decent light

Just a suggestion, please number your shots as you upload them so it is easier to refer to...thanks.

    Here is my take here:

#1 -- I like the clouds, the whole shot -- I cannot fault it because I love the light that forms the point of interest and its surrounds.
    #2 -- nice composition.
#3 -- the light, the shadows opening a new vista -- this is superb composition, very good shot...
    #4 -- nice parting shot...

    Thanks folks.
Izzie I'll take your suggestion on board and number my shots :-) Number 3 seems to be everybody's favourite and has to be said it's probably mine too.

A beautifully processed and presented image that draws out the very best of the lighting that was obviously in the scene. A lovely series of images.

Coincidentally, I was just looking again at Tarascon-sur-Ariege on Google Earth. I just got a new computer and lost all my Google Earth flags that I had on the old version. And I had a flag at the gite where we stayed for two weeks in 2009.

Great series that demonstrates making best advantage of the available lighting. Like other, I think no.3 exemplifies that best and is simply a lovely scene of a rural setting. We did a cycling tour through Provence in May and these photos brought those memories back in a flood. Thanks for posting.

Excellent landscapes - I can't pick a favorite from among them.

I always appreciate it when I see a set of photographs to just enjoy without feeling any need to critique them.
