    Honeymoon cottage, Cedar Key, Florida

The structure in the background was the former famous Honeymoon Cottage. It has been a photographic interest for a long time now…Some of the leftover structures deteriorated and turned greenish with time and exposure to the elements. It was a quick turn to practicing my BIF at the time...

As always will be nice to have a feedback, C&C too. Used Nik Sharpener Pro at the last minute this morning although I think it was good just SOOC without any edits at all, just no blinkies present on the original and cropped to size.

Nice effort, what were you shooting from another boat? Is that the railing at the bottom?

Yes, that blurred bit across the bottom is a problem for me. I would either copy and paste a bit of water over it or crop tighter to the boat. That will lose the waterline and bring the boat right to the frame edge but I would prefer that if the boat isn't the main subject.

Actually, I was standing in the middle of Dock St. platform. I got sick of the sea gulls, turned around then shoot this once infamous cottage. The blur in the water was either the water or the railing from the platform. The water wasn't really smooth. Yes, I was sort of worried about that and I can crop that out and copy/add some more water from the top to that part...

Thanks, guys...Love you both for commenting...

Looks like the honeymoon is well and truly over Izzie would have been nice to have been able to get rid of the barrier at the bottom of the frame, keep at it pal

You'll have to explain "the famous Honeymoon Cottage", Izzie. I googled it, but all I got was holiday resorts in Oz. Knowing the structure's history will allow us / me to appreciate the statement you are making with the contrast between the ruins and the holiday-makers in the foreground and midground

Hello Izzie: I too, have never heard of the Honeymoon Cottage, but I'm sure there is an intriguing story in there somewhere. My son lives in Florida. I will have to ask him about it. I agree that the subject is interesting, but that darn rail is a distraction. Do you have other shots without the rail?

OK...when I am in Oz and googled something of Oz, no matter what I do, everything seems to turn to Oz websites. Very typical. You should have googled the words " Honeymoon Cottage, Cedar Key, Florida". Here is the write up of it:

    http://www.cedarkeynews.com/index.ph...eymoon-cottage

About 4 years ago it still have a few boards from the structure at the time. What I had taken recently above, it is what is left of it. Nowadays in Cedar Key, they do not allow anymore one story ground houses because of hurricanes. All modern houses that are built nowadays have to be built on stilt. The stilt goes driven down as far as the bedrocks hence newer waterfront houses cost outside $M1.6+ to build and about $6K to maintain.

Susan ... I did not have anymore shot of this because I specialized in one shot takes... ... As I have already said, I got bored too easily. I was shooting BIF at a record because of the oncoming storm so I turned around quickly and got this. Not intentional, no planning either, just a quick shoot. My purpose of going to Florida was to learn more of BIF shooting (and that occasional failed astrophotography thingiemagig) I did not divert from that BIF thing till I got it right and still got butt shots. Well, it is a good practice.

And for those that complained of the railing, here is my quickie edit this yawning...I will do it better later...it is not good enough in my eyes, then it is not good enough for yours too...

I do like the dilapidated pier, but...you have too much background "stuff".

PS, you might select it and put it in one of your other water images.
