    Noisy Friarbird

This is my first post at these forums (apart from my introductory post). So here goes......

I often visit the bushland that surrounds our local lake and look for small birds to photograph. On this particular day (about 4 weeks ago), there were no finches or wrens to be seen. Instead, I discovered a medium sized bird feeding on a Callistemon tree. This was something new to me as I had never seen one of these curious looking birds before.

After a little research, I discovered that they are quite common in Australia. I suppose that this is a good example of photography helping to widen ones experience.

Hello Chris: The colours in these shots are quite striking and the angles of the bird are interesting. I prefer the third shot for its clear view of the bird's head. I'm looking forward to seeing more bird shots from you.

Friar birds are quite common around our house but I have never been able to get a photo of them. These are very nice.

Very very nice Chris. Colours, composition along with a good subject make these stand out.

All very good shots, Chris...I particularly like the first upside down pose...and the second one. The third one got it right -- at last! It will be better if you get rid of some of the twigs intersecting or almost intersecting your shots. Just a suggestion...

    Re: Noisy Friarbird

Thanks Izzie, and thanks for your suggestion. I'll remove that leaf on the left in the first and second shots (maybe the little branch that it's attached to, as well).

    Stay tuned....
