Tried that in fact they say no but others have said they have got it to work, I am tending to believe the manufacturer

I'll give a tip:
If it works "on camera", then it'll work with the PW!
Limitations are not on the side of the PW but on the
flash recycling time side.

Join the club. A lot of it passes me bye as well. This one is about having something mounted on the camera body that controls a flash unit that is off the camera. You can do that by using cables or you can do it remotely with things like pocket wizards.

Last night I played around with my PWIIIs and it worked. The flash was set in RPT mode and the PW simply gives it the signal to do its thing. I'm pretty sure any PW would work for this to happen.

Is there some other functionality you're looking for?

No,

(for skilsaw, RPT or RePeaT, is what is known as "STROBE, many fast flashes perhaps 20-60 per second, you and the Americans call Flashguns strobes, most annoying )

I can get it to work, but with a slightly different setup.

I have three PWIIIs. One in hand (trans), one on the camera (trans + rec), and one connected to the flash (rec).
If I simply press the one in hand quickly, even in RPT mode the flash fires once. If I hold down the button, the flash fires according to the input settings. In both cases the camera fires normally and it's up to me to have the correct shutter settings to take advantage of the RPT duration.

I cannot get this to work with only the unit on top of the camera and the one attached to the flash without manually holding down the button on the camera unit.

Hopefully that helps a little.
