An Aussie icon and his little friend.

It has only been 24hrs since joining CiC. I have been made to feel welcome, learned some things, I've seen some amazing photography and, have been inspired to shoot something that I have never tried before. Wow!

I captured both of these birds very recently:

Well taken shots and you have handled the exposures well, particularly the second backlit bird. Good simple and complementary backgrounds in both photographs. In the second shot there are two intersecting out of focus diagonals that may work better if one was cloned out or interrupted so they did not intersect at the side of the bird. It is a very minor detail and I would probably not have mentioned it if it were not so easily remedied.

I know exactly where the Australian East Coast is and will be there in a couple of weeks - we are bound to bump into each other - so I will see you soon...

Lovely shots Chris, No 2 is captured well with the back lighting.

Well done Chris... I like #1 between the two of them. Maybe you and LPaul will have a "Meet-me-at-Starbucks" moment with Greg (Footloose)...I'd also be Oz soon to visit my children and only grandchild but further away from the East Coast.

Pnodrog: Many thanks for looking and for your constructive comments.

I am not sure how to address you; is it Paul? or just 'L'? Either way, thanks again.

Good to hear that you are coming to Oz, maybe we will get together then.

Stagecoach: Many thanks, Grahame. I was happy with the way that one turned-out, backlit with the afternoon sun.

Hi Chris, when I first started on CiC everyone seemed to be called Paul so I put L in front of it just to avoid confusion and to match my passport a bit more closely. If you ever find out what the L is for I will have to set ninja assassins on you...

How many Starbucks are there on the east coast - 3 maybe 4? Actually I know roughly where Greg (footloose) is and I will be not too far away at Oran Park near Campbell Town. I suppose you are just a few minutes up the road at Port Douglas.

Izziek: Hi Izzie, thanks very much for looking. Glad that you like the Kookaburra.

Yes, there is chance LPaul and I will get together for a coffee.

Good to hear that you are coming to Oz soon, I'm sure that you'll have a great time with your kin. Thanks again!

Not quite as far as Port Douglas, Paul. Closer to Byron Bay - if it's only a few minutes to Port Douglas from Oran Park, then you should be able to get to Byron in a minute and-a-half!! Let me know when you are leaving Oran Park, and I'll meet you in Newcastle in 45 seconds!!

Just a quick question before we finalise arrangements - how friendly are the traffic police?
