I like the mod Frank and am pleased you progressed this one.
Somewhere on the partially built computer system I'm now using should be a version that I did with the yacht entering the fog. I'll try and find it but suspect it's going to require connecting in one of the hard drives presently sat on the kitchen worktop

Hi Frank,
Just to share that I too think you did a wonderful job with the final post processing of the image, and once again to say that I think it is a lovely, dreamy image - beautiful!
Now who would of thought that I would have placed the mod and work files that I did on Franks image in a folder titled 'Yacht in Fog'
Here it is. For me it was used as an exercise in blending two images, mirroring images, joining images, angled gradients and blending water (envying Christina's ability to do this so well)

Hi Frank,
Just to say that I like Grahame's edit because it keeps the sense of fog. (not because of his compliment, but thank you Grahame)... . Your edit is lovely but so perfectly beautiful that that I lose some of the sense of the fog. Sorry, to waffle back and forth on this one so much. I love foggy images hence the interest.
I thought I would give an in between edit a try.
I added a curves layer (luminosity) and darkened the entire image. I then erased the curves application off of the back 2/3 of the image. (100%) Then I changed the opacity of the brush to 20% and erased the curves application off of the front 1/3 of the image, and then a little more with the brush set at 8%.
Then I added a new layer with a soft light filter and painted the front of the boat and the front sail (white to make it lighter) and one of the workers in the middle of the boat to emphasize him/her, and also the horizon line a the water but just at the front of the photo. I lightened the sail too much in parts of it (difficult to blend).
Here is my try...

Ah, Christina! I did see this and got distracted before I had a chance to reply, then promptly forgot what I was in the middle of! My aunt used to tell me that old age ain't for sissies and memory is one of the first things you loose!
One thing I like about your edit is that it is smooth - more like what I'd expect than my final edit is. In this case, that translates to it being a more realistic rendition of the scene. Nice edit! I am so glad to see that you are willing to learn post processing and that you are progressing quite nicely at it.![]()
Grahame,
Thank you. Indeed I forgot to mention that when I was working on the image I thought it was a tad blue, and while PP I lessened the blue just a wee bit. I didn't save the file so I can't recall exactly how I did this. I appreciate your exceptional attention to little details that matter.
Frank,
Thank you. Indeed I've learned a lot about PP from you.![]()
