    Capertee Valley: Pearsons Lookout

And so, i woke up this morning with stormy skies, and i was waiting for this moment when it was stormy and i was free. So i quickly got dressed, grabbed my gear and headed out to the lookout i was waiting for the stormy weather i wanted. This look out is Pearsons Lookout in the Capertee Valley. By time i got there i only had some time till it was going to rain so i had to set up quick to get a few photos. And i love how i captured the rain in the distance to the left.

Not entirely happy with it but with my limited skills in shooting and editing, i like it. I did use a GD ND Filter with this shot, gd 8 i think it was. First time using filters. I did put more of a bit of "mood" in the clouds in CC, some sharpening and that was it.

    Canon 6D
    Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8

    f/4, 1/160, ISO 160, GD Filter

Very nice work Allen. You might consider increasing the exposure by about half a stop (in Photoshop that is) and also bumping up the Saturation a bit.

Nice scene Allen, you had a good viewpoint.

The haze affecting the far mountains is something I also struggle with and have not found a solution yet. You were lucky catching the rain, it's a bonus to a scene like this.

Incidentally I have just purchased the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 and took my first landscapes with it yesterday, also had to use a GND for the scene and am presently working on them.

Grahame, thank you. The tamron 28-75mm is a decent lense.

No problems Allen. It's your image and it's your call. I guess the brightness of the image also depends what you are viewing it on and how your display is adjusted.

Very good and I was full of admiration for the strenuous tramp you must have had to get there. Well that was until I discovered this:

"The recently completed works have included grading and sealing the road surface from the highway to the lookout, a new viewing platform which provides safe separation between vehicles and pedestrians, new fencing and new interpretative signage which highlights the features and history of the Capertee Valley."

    Still impressed with the photograph.....

As it seems to cater for my high level of athleticism I have put it on my to do list.

Wonderful Australian landscape Allen, really shows the vastness of our country. The sky is brilliant, as Daniel said really moody. Nice one mate
