    Trail Hounds

While we were in the Lakes recently we discovered that the local Agricultural show was on. Like the much larger County shows this was a mixture of the usual product and flower displays, children's sports day and animal shows/competitions. This breed is derived from the Foxhound but has been selectively bred for speed. As well as being "shown" they competed later in the day following an aniseed drag trail over the mountain sides and fells - hence the name. Sadly the rain drove us indoors before the racing started but we watched them in the ring. They struck me as so bright eyed and intelligent that I tried to capture this in an image or two. C&C as welcome as always.

Good work, John. I like the expression on the 2nd one. Really makes me wish I still had a dog.

Thanks all for commenting. I wish we could have witnessed the actual trailing event. Maybe next year.
