Nice capture Gerry, when I first saw the cars over on the right I thought it was the usual grid lock on the M8 lol, but that's the new car park they built in the new half of the Royal is it not?

    Cheers David

Yes David that is the new car park, a bit of an eye sore but that's progress

That's nicely composed Gerry and weren't you lucky with the sky. A little HDR in there? Looks a little like you have used it to bring out the detail in the building. One way or the other, they nicely defined.

Hi John, thanks for comments but no HDR, only things done in PP was to clone out a block of high rise flats behind main hospital and a little to recover the shadows of buildings on right hand side. The cloud cover was changing constantly, I have shots before and after and the colours are totally different.

That is a cracking shot Gerry love the HDR effects on the sky/buildings, it works really well.

EDIT: Just noticed your reply to John, no HDR? Really impressive shot

A B&W conversion of the same shot? Does this work any better? Comments awaited

The mono version for me as it enables one to focus on the architecture.

Think I'd have wanted to darken up the sky and put contrast into it. The result would, in my opinion, be a cracker.

Hi Gerry, The color one looks excellent to me. I like B&W too but I agree with Donald that the clouds need working on them to bring out the details and add some drama

I absolutely agree with Donald. How have you converted this Gerry. There should be more contrast naturally without any dedicated enhancement.

I would like to see more tonal range in the clouds of the monochrome version but not nearly as much as in the color version. The clouds in the color version distract me from the subject.

There is probably a reason the bottom of the frame couldn't be lower but I wish it was lower.

Thanks for all your comments, started with RAW file again and attempted to give more contrast. Comments please

The clouds look better in the edit , I also like the new crop I think you had a tint in the first version and I liked it. I wonder how this version would look with the same tint.

The architecture is very nice in the coloured version without the car park, mind you..but it is nicer and not much of a big deal in black and white if you are not looking for it. Each one has its merit. As for the conversion, I like the last edit better. Good for you for putting up both versions.

Thanks for your comments Binnur, I've tried all day to try and reproduce the ''tint'' I must have been in a different mood during firts conversion

Thanks for your comment Izzie, I've been trying out b&w conversions, some times I get it others I'm miles away from what I want
