    New to CIC

Hi My name is Rob, I am new to CIC been doing photography for about 4 years, I really don’t have style yet. I mostly do landscapes, and photograph random junk trying to make an abstract, but I would like to start doing more street photography.

I would like to start improving my photos, getting the most detail out of them, not really sure how to do that yet.

I just saved your article on Histograms, and looking forward to reading more.

Here is my flickr album, I will look through my album and post some photos for C&C…

    Thanks
    Rob

    Rob,

Welcome to the forum. You have an interesting selection of photographs on flickr. It seems as if you are well on your way to finding your style.

    Hi,
My name is Ian and I have just discovered this very informative site and decided to join. I have done a lot of photography over the years and tried a lot to make them interesting, but never taken them too seriously. Time to sort that aspect out!
Over the last couple of years I have discovered that I can paint and have used my photography to aid that by painting from pictures, so far mostly race cars (Bugatti on my avitar). I have always liked to photograph action shots of Race Cars at our local circuit.
I have just bought a Nikon D5000 with a 18-105 zoom lens and really enjoy using it. Still finding out what it can do, but the results are tremendous.
Looking forward to meeting a few of you and swapping notes, Cheers, Ian.

    Welcome Ian,

I am sure that you are aware that a photograph cannot fully represent the curvature of an actual automobile but the photo can be used successfully as a memory aid. I too used to use photographs as an aid and took into account the limited details that a photograph can provide an artist when rendering their subject. Welcome to the group and we would love to see both your paintings and photographs of the same subject.
