Really like the lighting in this one John. Very nice.
Nice capture John, Beer at a snack van?
David
What happened to the torso and head of the guy who was leaning against the van?
You should had posted the full guy to make Donald a happy camper.
Anyway I think even the dark right hand side of the side contributes to your picture's story...very nice. I like that you got that little girl to pose like that in front of the van...Did you get to taste the fried dough??? Any good?
Nice shot, John, I like the lighting on the little girl: it makes her look so innocent. In fact, it reminds me of Norman Rockwell - although he probably would not have had that dark figure in the shadows at the bottom right corner.
But what do all those signs mean? People standing under a sign that says no standing, and a van parked in a no-standing zone. The beer is not beer... So what is 'corn dog' and 'fried dough'?
Greg,
Thanks for the comments. My chance to bore you with facts. Root and Birch beer originally were alcoholic drinks popular in North America, prohibition caused distillers to change the formula, the drink remained popular even without the alcohol.
Corndogs are hotdogs coated with corn batter and usually served on a stick. Fried dough are just doughnuts covered with powdered sugar.
Hi John,
I like the lighting of the little girl's face. Nice composition!
Nice shot. The little girl looks as if she's peering into heaven itself. Well done.
I love images like this - a slice of Americana.
Well seen, John.

This image forces me keep looking at it, appreciating it more.
Like others have said, the use of lighting is excellent.
Initially I wanted the women at the back to get out of the shot, but her disinterest/inattention is a nice contrast to the look of captivation of the girl.
