Clark's Nutcracker
While waiting for my Pentax DSLR equipment to arrive, took this with my Panasonic FZ40.

Re: Clark's Nutcracker
That's a nice quality image Carol. Can't wait to see what you do with the Pentax in your hands.

Re: Clark's Nutcracker
I like the cropped version, Carol, although I feel it needs a little more headroom

Re: Clark's Nutcracker
Thanks Greg, the original version was taken to include the pinecones in the image, so there was not much headroom for the bird in that image. When I cropped it, I had no room to include more headroom.

Re: Clark's Nutcracker
Very nice! I take the fz40 to be a nice bridge camera. I have the Fujifilm sl1000, a similar type, and I find many of the photos are too dim, so with a photo like that I might try to brighten it up a little, as long as it doesn't change the appearance of what the lighting conditions were at the time of shooting. I also would go with a crop, but I would hardly want to crop out those pretty pine cones you captured with the bird. So I might suggest a near 1x1 crop, to include all to the right of about the end of the bird's tail not removing any from top or bottom, this would also give more room in front of the bird so it's face isn't at the edge. I am impressed with the quality in this shot from a superzoom by the way.

Re: Clark's Nutcracker
Thanks for the cropping suggestion Nick; I'll give it a try. BTW, this was at full zoom, handheld; with no PP treatment except cropping. I have to say the FZ40 is a great little camera!

Re: Clark's Nutcracker
Cropped version is beter IMHO but would like to see more on right and less on left.
