Very interesting to see these common insects so much better than one normally sees them. I don't recall ever noticing them making bubbles

Hello Johann: These shots are quite amazing. They instantly grabbed my attention. The colours are beautiful and I particularly like the white background in the first image.

Thank you all for commenting. #1 was shot on an old sunbeaten wooden table, which had 'silvered' as treated woods here in NZ tend to do. I overexposed, but was able to recover some of the lost colour in PP. The background ended up as a pleasing grey/white, as a result of the overexposure. #2 is a very small fly. I believe its one of the Oscinella family, possibly Oscinella Frit, aka 'Frit Fly'. It is no longer than 2 mm, and of very slender build. The area in focus is a fraction of a mm.
