Autumn starts to arrive in the Ariege

Visited the Etang de L'Ers (Ariege, France) today to get some fresh air and Autumn colour. Fresh air was abundant but Autumn is running a little late this year and only some of the trees are starting to turn. It's still unfashionably warm here and the nights have just started to develop a bit of a chill. Still, a nice day and good to get out with a camera, check out some locations and cross fingers for some really nice Autumn colour to come.

These are lovely. My favorite is the last.

The light is spectacular. Well seen and captured, all.

The other two in the middle may be messy but the reflections are superb. It will do with a little bit of crop at the bottom. Otherwise the whole series are all nicely captured. Beautiful shots, Paul...

The last one is the best. The first one I like.

Many thanks folks. My personal fave is number 2 (excellent taste Peter :-). A bit of a surprise for me that most of you put number 4 high on the list as this is my least favourite. Possibly because I had to wrestle with it in post to get what I ... didn't quite want.

Hi Paul, the light, reflections and the colour of yellow are all great in #4. I also like #2 and #3, very nice images

I agree with others, the ones with the angled light catching the yellow colors (first and last) are probably the best, others perhaps lack a little extra feeling to ad to the mountains, but I like the red leaves in the water in the foreground in the second one.

I looked at this earlier on a non-calibrated and profiled monitor, at which time my reaction was that the background needed a little dodging to lift up some of the detail. But now that I'm looking at it on my own monitor, I can see that that was wrong. I think it's perfect. A wonderful image.

And the moral of the tale? If you haven't profiled and calibrated your monitor, do so ... now!
