Not really - they were among the first to start bundling adware with their installers![]()
There may be a downside to this - they haven't sent the activation code
Thanks for that, Jeremy- looks like the Cnet installer may be a better idea after all...!
EDIT - Just looked at the download screen, and there it was.
I really should pay attention...

Which version of DxO 8 is it? I can't imagine that DxO is sanctioning this.
It's not the role of this forum to direct people on what to do. At the same time, CiC cannot condone those who might make black-legged' versions of software available, thus denying the people who invest in the research and development and who own copyright.
Donald, it's official - it's from their site, http://www.dxo.com/intl/dphotographer
They did something similar a year ago with DxO 6 - it's helped me introduce a few friends to the software... which is why they do it, I'm sure
I remember a thread that didn't create as much fuss;
DxO giveaway from Practical Photography magazine...

Thanks for the links, Russell...
Donald: Exactly! DxO is not the only company to play this game. I got Perfect Effects 8 from OnOne Software for free and have received numerous emails to buy packages, upgrades, etc. I have not received anything like that from DxO since getting 6 for free. But, I wouldn't mind so much. I have enjoyed both programs and immediately downloaded DxO Optics 8 upon reading the post above. Both systems have been so good I have considered buying the most recent programs. If the strategy didn't benefit the companies, they wouldn't do it. It definitely benefits me.
Thanks to Russell for pointing this out!
Hi, Donald, a bit harsh to assume that I would ever post anything here that conects any way with QUOTE:- "black-legged' versions of software available" I have been a member on the forum for 4 years and posted free software available when it has been brought to my notice only to help those who due to age or circumstance cannot afford to purchase such software.

I did not write it thinking this way and never intended to cause offence. My apologies for doing so.
