A little something in B&W
Went out to Presqu'ile Park this morning and with the wind blowing the clouds around, thought this might not make for a bad shot. Finished in Silver Efex Pro 2.

Re: A little something in B&W
Hello Allan: I really like the gritty, contrasty, processing especially in the clouds. That rock sure looks lonely...

Re: A little something in B&W
This is such a powerful image. I just love the centered horizon and the way the dark clouds lead my eye to the brightest park of the sky, which happens to be immediately above the rock. Everything comes together so nicely!
I wonder if increasing the texture of the rock would help but I also realize that it would be very easy to overdo that, especially if it doesn't have much texture.

Re: A little something in B&W
A great shot. I think that refraining from increasing the texture of the rock actually made the picture in that the rock does not compete with the strong effect of the clouds.

I like it Allan. Makes you wonder how that single rock got there.

Allan -- very strong photo. That rock feels so all alone there against the powerful forces of nature ahead...
(OT) Grahame, I would say that would be one heck of a size your wife brought back with her when you allowed her to take your truck to the bush...

Re: A little something in B&W
Thank you everyone for your comments, I really liked the image, but way not sure why until I read what Mike stated about it and realized that is exactly why I was drawn to it. I used a Lee 3-stop soft GND filter to lower the sky a some of the fore ground, later in post I lowered the sky another 2 stops short of the horizon, then I had to raise that rock 3-stops to get any kind of detail. The conversion to B&W was done as stated above with Silver Efex Pro 2
Thanks again for your positive comments.

Re: A little something in B&W
Thanks Christina when I get a sky like that, I'm a little like a kid in a candy store with unlimited funds, Donald nice to get a wow from one of the B&W site masters.
