Roadside Landscapes

Hi Folks,

Haven't posted in a long while as my poor Nikon has been neglected. However, vigor renewed and a week off work mean I have some free time to get my lens cap off and thinking cap on.

I was out earlier today on the road from Leadhills to Crawfordjohn in the Lowther Hills, Scotland looking for some potential dark sky for a possible attempt at some star trails when I decided to stop at the roadside and take in the scenery.





Both shots taken with my Nikon D3200 using 18mm - 55mm lens
1/200sec/f7.1/ISO800/18mm

Any comments greatly appreciated

Hi Craig

I like these shots, the first as a straight panorama and the interesting angle with the car in the second. I think you've portrayed the Scottish countryside very well indeed.

I notice you've used a SS of 1/200 and ISO 800. You might have got slightly crisper shots with a SS of 1/100 and ISO 400 or even a SS of 1/50 and ISO 200. This is on the basis of there being less noise to deal with at the lower ISO settings.

I would agree with that. There is a fair bit of noise but I only noticed it when I got home. Tried a spot of Noise reduction but it was softening the image too much.
