Bear Lake at Estes Park, Colorado

Recently returned from visiting family in Colorado and once again returned to this beautiful part of the Rocky Mountain National Park. The weather was wonderful but unfortunately almost all of the Aspen trees had lost their leaves. Met some Elk but my photos couldn't nearly compete with those great images posted by our fellow members!! Brought my trusty travel camera - Fuji x100s and still trying to get to grips with PP...!!

PP looks good to me too, Marie...I like that you captured the reflections so well here. Though I do not want to choose, I have a certain preference to #1 ...there is something about a mountain shot that is so nice to me...looking at it from the distance -- even a shot as beautiful like this cannot really express its strength it want to convey in real time, real justice....Colorado is a nice place for photoshoots. And so is Wyoming...

Thank you Izzie - I too enjoy mountain scenes but some are so majestic that my captured images often fail to relate their true splendour. I too prefer #1 as my son and I sat on a nearby rock and caught up with a 'good auld chinwag'... a wonderful day.

I love the second one - the faint blur of the reflection with the clarity of the mountains themselves really works.

Peaceful indeed! I would crop about 25% of the sky in the second one to throw some emphasis on the reflection, Marie. Just a tad less sky that what is reflected in the lake.

I did try to reduce the glare from the sky but never even thought of cropping it Frank and doing so makes such an improvement - many thanks.

Many thanks Kaye and Frank's suggestion to crop the sky does improve it!

It's definitely No 1 for me Marie, it's the great foreground detail interest on the water.

Lovely images. Too bad there were no white billowy clouds in the sky. BTW: I played with selecting the sky, reducing the brightness and increasing the blue which came out nicely.

I played with the second image by increasing the lightness of the trees and reflection of the trees along with adding some structure as well as decreasing the lightness of the sky. This is what I ended up with...

Bear Lake at Estes Park, Colorado

Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Park, in general, is absolutely beautiful!
