    Washed out portrait look

A while ago we had a discussion on how to obtain a washed out portrait look in our images. Here is a quick On-One You-Tube video on how to obtain this effect using onOne Perfect Effects

Thanks Richard...for the link. I used to have Perfect Photo Suite here in my desktop but only on a trial. I think I will buy the whole package this time around...It is a great software and I got too lazy to upgrade...

    Izzie...

I purchased Perfect Photo Suite at a discount several years ago when they offered discounts to photographers who owned the NIK Software. They are, of course, in direct competition with NIK. I do like having both programs because, while there is some duplication, each program has its own strengths...

I recently did some editing on a computer that had Photoshop CS6 only and I noticed that I missed both the NIK and the PerfectPhoto programs...

    Richard,

Would you compare the washed out portrait look to the "Grunge Effect" that is available in many editing applications?

    John...

Here is a portrait with no special effects:

Here is a portrait with a default Perfect Photo color fade effect:

Here is a portrait with a default Perfect Photo grunge effect:

Here is what the Perfect Effects workspace looks like. You can adjust the default settings any way you desire...

These last two are the default settings which can be easily adjusted.

    Richard,

Thanks for the comparison. When I first viewed the youtube "washed out effect" it reminded me of the "grunge effect" tutorial I read about in an Elements booklet; very different look. I think both effects would be emphasized more with the proper background; say a bit of graffiti or an urban setting.

    Thanks again.
