Lovely shots Binnur! I like them all but number #2 is my favourite.. I love the "arch" of leaves at the bottom
Nicely done, the reflections are very colorful.
I would be happy to have any of these images in my catalog but I especially like the third one. I wonder if I might like it even more if more space was allowed at the bottom to give the reflection of the sky more room to "breathe" as in the first photo. Alternatively, perhaps cropping at the bottom to eliminate that reflection would also work.
I didn't realize Troy is in Turkey. (I actually never gave any thought as to where it is.) I'm determined to return to Turkey some day and would love to visit the archaeological site. So, special thanks for making me aware of this.
Wow, Binnur, these are fascinating images on so many fronts. I agree with Mike's comments and would perhaps offer one additional suggestion if you can return to this site. For the last composition, I would reshoot with the camera as close to the surface if the water as possible, then try raising it a few inches, reshoot, and repeat until you have a range of images where the reflection dramatically adds to the scene. One of those images should really stand out as the best of the bunch. You may need to shoot on several occasions to get the best combination of sky definition, foliage, and reflection based on how the ripples affect the reflection.
I am guessing that once the location of Troy was re-established, the reason for this aqueduct became obvious.
Thank you Matt and John, I'm glad that you liked the images
Matt, I like #2 too because of the full reflection of the aqueduct and the leaves at the bottom. It's a pity that I didn't know how to shoot panoramas then. It would be nice too see the whole scenery with a big file.
Hi Mike and Frank Thank you very much for looking and commenting. I'm glad that you liked the images.
As I said in my post above ,I think it would be best if I was able to shoot a panorama and include everything properly in the image. Unfortunatelly I learnt how to do it later if I go there again in the future I will certainly try it and I will keep your suggestions in mind. For the time being I will try cropping the reflection of sky in #3 and I will upload it if it works.
Yes Troy is in Çanakkale / Turkey . This aqueduct is next to a small village which is close to Troy and it is said that a man wanted to buy the whole village because of this aqueduct. His goal was to build a hotel and create a touristic environment there. He managed to buy most of the houses and the lands but only a few families resisted. So, the village looks ruined and deserted now with only a few people in it. When I went there I was able to see only two old women villager and I asked them where the others were. They said the others went away because they sold their houses and lands to a man. So I think the story is not false.
Here is some more info about Troy if you are interested. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troy
Nice shooting Binnur. I like the light in #3 best but the better composition in #2.
Lovely images Binnur. I keep coming back to #2, there is something with this image that keeps me looking
Like others that have commented I also had no idea that Troy was in Turkey.
Hi Binnur,
Beautiful set. I'm torn between #1 and #2 as my favourite. I love the leaves in the foreground in #2 but something about the simplicity of the 1st image with that gorgeous cloud hovering at the top of the image in #1 is especially beautiful to me.
Binnur, these are breathtaking! My favorite I must say is the second one :-)
Another set of good shots, Binnur -- like Christina I preferred #1 and lingered most on it and came back to it again and again to take another peek, thinking of why I like it and #2 rolled in and I started comparing... it was the crop that I am beginning to like here, the framing, until I saw Matt's early comment did I realized the difference...the leaves at the bottom made the shot there in #2. I still like #1 though because the darkish cloud provided more contrast to it...
Thank you for looking and commenting Isabel I have also some close up shots of the aqueduct . I haven't edited them yet because I want to buy Nik Software first and I want to learn how to use it by editing some of my summer/fall shots in cold winter days when I'm usually at home. I will keep in mind the impact of the clouds while editing the rest of the images then
Excellent series Binnur, I like them all, but #1 is my favourite, I like the darker reflections.
Love them all, but especially #1 as the colours here are more vibrant especially in the reflections!
