I prefer 1st picture, which is well exposed with full tonal range whereas in my opinion 2nd picture is more than 2 stop over exposed
Hi Chris. You are fortunate to have such a photographic location to work with!
I like the colouring in the first one better but it also has stronger sense of depth and framing provided by the close elements on the left side. The second could work with a wider aspect ratio. There is a lot of negative space above and below the town so it has a sense of being fairly distant.
I like them both . I completely agree with Frank about #1. IMO #2 might look better , if you crop most of the sky and apply an edit which is similar to #1
The improvements are smashing Chris! I've always enjoyed your Marlow images to the point where if I get back to the UK I'm planning to go to Marlow to see this lovely town for myself. Until then, I'll just need to be content viewing your images!
Crops look better than the original, I prefer 6:4 more . I would clone the small bird next to the bottom frame as it distracts a bit
Chris this is indeed a lovely image with wonderful light. I can only echo Frank's sentiments in saying that the first version has good depth due to the foreground elements on the left. The closer crops of versions 3 and 4 work better than version 2 IMO. With these, the bridge becomes the main focus and as such I tend to go for 4.

Nice, I like the first also, but both have there own special qualities.
I like the crops and particularly the first - I think you need the swans. Great photos of a lovely town, must pop by there soon
Thanks Guys for your kind words. Frank - if you do make it to Marlow let me know and I shall be happy to show you round.
I like #1 too...the human elements adds a touch to it...lots of potential bird closeups around that area...the last edit of 12:6 appeals to me more...
