Clouds, Rocks, and Water in B&W

A little over a week ago I went out to a local provincial park, the wind was blowing the clouds around, found a good spot and waited for the moment to arrive. Well with the clouds moving around and a great location it did not take long for a moment to arrive actually a good number of them arrived. Taken with a Lee big stopper, 16-35mm at 19mm, f/18, @13 sec., and converted to B&W with Silver Efex Pro 2. Added a slight curves to increase the brightness down the centre of the rocks. Thinking about printing this one out, even though the monitor and printer are both profiled colour images come out 99% on, but B&W are coming out dark, so I will have to print a couple of tests images for as you can see I do like the more images that are low key.

    Cheers: Allan

This has so much texture in it that it scratched my monitor. I also like the way the bright tones above and below the horizon lead the high toward the distant center of the image. Exceptionally well done.

Consider toning down the brightest parts at the very left edge of the frame, as they pull my eye just a tad away from the center of the image.

This is one of the rare sea/landscapes in B&W that I like Alan. I suspect, for me, it's due to the clear divisions between different texture areas.

What I find very interesting is the inclusion of the stick that could have been easily removed, if wanted. Do I like the stick there, yes.

Mike thanks for the comments, just love that line you used. "This has so much texture in it that it scratched my monitor". I think that line is the best ever I have heard.

Grahame thanks for the kind words. Question about the stick, I just noticed one on the right hand side of the image is that the one you mean or is it the one across the rocks, for that stick is 14-16 inches in dia. about 15ft long, I would need a medium logging chain tractor to move it.
    Again thanks.

Very nice Allan and I echo the compliments of others. I will add that the slight s-curve of the rocky outcropping adds a lot of dynamic energy to the composition.

Allan I will beg to be different here...I like everything that you included in this shot except the texture of the clouds. I wouldn't have noticed the little stick until you mentioned it. Overall, it is a very good composition.
