Shots from a VERY wet morning... (Series)

Took these shots on the way home from a location which I didn't get to shoot because of the weather

    C&C Welcome

#1 - I've tried shooting this church all summer, but was never happy with the final image. Looks much better in the autumn (updated)

#2 - The Old Smithy, lovely house about 100 yds down the road from the church.

#4 - Not sure this image really works

The next 3 are abstracty, I wanted to try and show how wet the weather really was!

#5 - There are brown marks (bird poo?) on the window which I need to clone out

Apart from the first one, which I don't think works so well, the others are, I think good images, including the one that you wondered about (the water coming down the hill). Although on that one, the water is a bit central. I don't know if you could have worked the scene a bit more to the an angle that took the stream off-centre.

I love this one and, indeed, you've given me ideas.

Thanks Vaez and MarieV, I'm glad everyone likes #7, I can never judge whether people are going to like my creative/abstract shots.

I studied Art & Design in college but never got into the photography side of things, so now I'm making up for lost time and really enjoying it

A good set of images but I like the imagination that went into the last three. Pick for me is the last image.

    Nice dark moody scenes.

I wonder if #1 would have more impact with a slightly tighter crop?

Very slightly reduce top, bottom, maybe left side; but leave the right side? And possibly clone out the electricity post?

Thanks for all the views/comments guys.

Geoff I cropped it a bit tighter on the top and bottom, but it didn't really work for me cropping the LHS.

Matt, #7 it is for me, the best shot, very nice indeed, I think the difference the monochrome adds is very atmospheric........dull, grey and bleak, oh how I miss home

For me they are all great Matt I loved the PP work in the first three and I also loved the abstracts. #4 looks a bit poor in composition but it seemsto be a nice place and IMO it is worth going and trying different compositions there.

That crop of #1 certainly looks better to me. Now we are concentrating on the gates leading towards the building instead of the road in front; and there are still sufficient leaves to show that it is autumn.

#3 and #6 are really special for me. I think I would like #7 as much if it had the rich tones (perhaps deeper dark tones) of its color version.

I like #7, but as Mike said, it would be better with richer tones.

The 5th doesn't quite work for me because the water is too well defined on the windscreen. #7 is much better in that respect.

I like the subject of #1. It screams 'Adams Family' to me. Perhaps it is one that you can return to and work over.

I like 6 and 7 Matt....well, the bird poo doesn't have anything much to it but it is interesting to say the least, as a start to something nicer like 6 and 7.
