The first one was from last night...I knew that I wanted the light-pole lit tree shot, all I had to do is wait
for a full moon, then the clouds rolled in. Stuff just happens I guess.



A rule broken with these orchids, even number of them...backyard background. C&C would be nice.

The number of orchids doesn't bother me, at least not in that arrangement. But I wonder about having a fraction less space at the top and more at the bottom?

I'm not sure what you want me to look at in the first shot, Bill: the bright moon or the bright tree. If the tree were not nearly so bright, I think you would have a nice moody shot.

Interesting treatment of the background in the 2nd shot. I think I prefer this kind of blurred background to the plainer backgrounds.

I think #1 needs a bit of cropping...+1 to Greg's comment: both objects are bright as the other, it is confusing which one you were trying to shoot. If it is the tree, then I do not like the moon to be there, you could have just use the effect of the moon to show your tree. I like the colour of the tree though with the moonlight. Now, I am not making sense...I must say goodnight...soon.

Considering photographing the tree without the moon and framing the tree as is for a very different image.

The orchids and background are beautiful. That and your previous orchid photo represent a higher level of quality in my mind.

You guys can't imagine how much I appreciate the feedback on these, and other images.

It has proven to me that I cannot compose an image in my viewfinder, I waited for over a week
for the full moon with that tree, assuming that it would be a great image...it got panned on all
the sites it was posted to.

The orchids, on the other hand, are nothing more than using thread to anchor them in somewhat of a
Golden Spiral position>parking them on my computer desk>using tons of light bouncing off the white
walls>and shooting towards my wooded backyard. Amazingly, the KISS principal strikes
again.

PS...I couldn't bring myself to get rid of the flaws in the orchids.
