    Color test pattern anyone?

My wife is a quilter and has me take pictures of her quilts which she then puts into a scrap book.
These are two of her latest endeavors and since it was a bright sunny day out, I thought it would be nice to photograph them in the sun instead of against the wall in the living room, where I usually take them. So I did a quick jerry rig of some clamps and string I had in the garage, and put them up in front of the garage door in full view of the sun.
Short of making a custom frame which could stretch the quilt out tightly with bungy cords or some such rubber band type affair I think it turned out pretty nice. The breeze made it challenging as they wanted to flap.
    Comments/suggestions are welcome.

I love the 'depth' in the textures and colours. Shooting outdoors in sunlight works well. Was it a bright day with cloud or direct strong sunshine?

I also think if you had stretched the fabric you would have lost a lot of the impact of the fabric texture.

As you can see in this unedited shot, it was a bright sunny day with direct sunshine.

Well captured, your wife has talent with a needle, as you do with a camera.

Wonderful patterns, beautiful range of colours. (But did you have the D7000's Auto Distortion Control switched off? )

    Cheers.

Good photographs, brilliant quilts. I know from my wife's efforts, how intricate the process of quilt making is (and when she complains about how much time I spend in PS, I remind her from time to time).
