Excellent Jim! If you do any post processing, enhancing the catch lights in the eyes would really add vitality to this capture!

Nicely captured. Almost like she posed!

I can't get the exif information from the shot, but a suggestion: try shooting with a wider aperture for less depth of field. That will throw the background out of focus and make it less distracting. As a very crude indication, I just added some blur in photoshop to illustrate this. If you object to folks showing edits of your shots, I apologize, and I will take it down if you prefer.

    Thanks all for the comments.

Frank, how would you go about doing that?

Nice edit Dan. Would love to know how you did that. I use Zoner for PP.

Hi Jim, this is the kind of tiny change that can make a difference. Just to lighten up a couple of pixels that are there, but quite dark in the original. I'll delete the edit if you don't like it.

Jim...look at the dodge tool if you have photoshop. It works well with enhancing the catchlights in the eyes. Very nice pose, Jim...love the shot very much.

    Jim,

I've never heard of Zoner, but the basic idea is to create a mask that protects the doe and then add Gaussian blur. In Photoshop, here are the steps:

--duplicate the image in a second layer
--select the doe. I did this with a combination of the magic wand and lasso tools. It's best if the selection is several pixels wider than the part you want to protect
--invert the selection, so you have selected all but the doe
--create a mask, with only the selected part white
    --add blur to taste

That said, you will generally get better results if you open the aperture wider (smaller f/stop number) when you take the picture.
