    AE Bracketing

    Hello,

Almost all DSLR cameras have AE bracketing feature. My question specifically regarding Nikon D5200
I get an option to switch on AE bracketing and choose the bracketing range, however the center point is always zero. Which means I will get three images with (-2, 0, +2) or (-1, 0, +1).
What if I want to shoot 3 images with center point other than zero, say (-2, -1, 0)? How do I do that or capturing 2 times with (-2, 0, +2) & (-1, 0, +1) and then using desired images in post processing is the only option, which again restricts me to use tripod.

To achieve -2,-1,0, you could set the bracketing to -1,0,+1 and also set the exposure compensation to one less EV than the setting you would use when using no bracketing.

    Right on Mike...
In fact exposing this way for night shots (using aperture or shutter speed priority metering) will just about guarantee that you will have at least one usable shot from each trio of images. The -1 stop exposure compensation reduces the risk of overexposing the bright light sources...
IMO, the bane of many night images (especially night cityscapes) is OVEREXPOSURE of the brightly lit areas and point source lights.

Great Mike. never thought that would have been so simple.
