A bit hard on the eyes, difficulty seeing the subject clearly. Was there a breeze blowing? The surrounding greenery has a nice contrast.

it is hard on the eyes but I did take the saturation and brightness down a notch or two. There was indeed a breeze so it is just that little bit fuzzy. The greenery are the basil leaves.

I think that the exposure has lost the flowers Brian. If you get that right the greenery may look a bit odd. I seem to remember you have played with Rawtherapee again recently. The LAB ch,lh etc adjustments would probably help correct that if the flower was correct providing the green is still there. These have a button below them and if clicked the image can be scanned with a small square and their colour will be indicated on the adjustment. This makes it pretty easy to adjust brightness, saturation and hue selectively.

Take these 2 for instance. This one has lost the green shade in some of the leaves

There are other changes in this one but the spikey green leaves were still too pale so that was corrected with RT. I also intensified the blue flowers a little. In short I could alter any tone in the image this way without selection etc or anything else. And should have as some aspects of the first one are better.

Hi John, this time I did the initial processing in RT and the final sharpening in Gimp. Thanks for nudging me out of my usual routine. I have stayed away from Lab in RT but after tonight I shall begin to explore it. I hope you see an improvement?
