    A Summer time bath

We usually don't get really colorful birds around here. When this one came to visit our backyard fountain to take a bath this past summer, I quickly grabbed my camera and went to work shooting from inside our family room, far enough away from the sliding glass doors so as not to scare him away. These are crops of the best of the shots I took, straight out of the camera, no PP.
    Comments welcome.

That is one beautiful bird indeed. Not bad for shooting out a window, I have done a lot shooting of bird feeders and baths out a window. The images should be appearing as larger in the post above the attachment icons. Here is the instructions from the posting instructions thread from the moderator about attachments.

You can attach images while you are Posting or Replying by first clicking the "Go Advanced" button.
Click the "Manage Attachments" button (just below Additional Options), a pop up window will open
Click a "Browse" button, then find and select the image file on your computer and click "Open"
Click the "Upload" button and wait a little while
When it says "Current Attachments" and gives the filename, you can then click the "Close Window" button in the pop-up window
Back on the main window, you should see the filename(s) of any attached images beneath the "Manage Attachments" button
When you're done typing your post message, click the "Submit Reply" button. Your message will now have small pictures at the bottom in a panel called "Attached Thumbnails". To make your image appear larger, continue to the next set of steps.

Part 2: How to make an attached thumbnail appear larger and inline
Click the image to make it bigger
Right-click on the image and select "Copy Image Location" (in Firefox) or "Copy Shortcut" (in IE)
Click "Edit Post" and position the cursor where you want the image to appear, then use the "Insert Image" icon and Paste (Ctrl+V) the shortcut into the dialog and click "OK"
    Click "Save Changes" button.
(if you attached more than one image, repeat steps 1-3 for each to get the bigger images inline)

Sometimes; when you do Part 2 step 1, it goes to the image, so you may need to use your browser's "Back" button between steps 2 and 3.

    Limitations with Attachments:
Max image dimension: 700px on longest side (it will downsize** for you if need be)
Max filesize per picture: 283 kB ??
Max filesize hosting/member: 20MB normally, larger if needed
    Strips EXIF data

** If you upload an image larger than 700 pixels, it will be automatically downsized, however, this may reduce image sharpness compared to downsizing and sharpening the image yourself. Optimal sharpening after downsizing typically uses unsharp mask settings of 150%, 0.3 radius and a threshold of 4. Also keep in mind that EXIF data gets stripped off during the automatic downsizing.

These are nice shots, the first one made me smile, reminds me of my little cousin learning to swim with her armbands on

+1 to Matt's comment. I like #1 too...is it a freak of nature that after a shower or bath no matter whether a person or animal or bird, we all suffer from a bad hair day until we groomed oneself?

Thank you Nick. I'm beginning to see the light now on image insertion.

You're welcome. They look better now. I used to use the attachments function when on a slow internet connection, but the Tinypics function is easier if uploading will work, which it seems to on a faster connection.

    Re: A Summer time bath

I've used the Tinypics function in other threads, but couldn't get it to work in this one with multiple pictures.
    Thanks again for the help.
