You need to edit the post and add a [ in front of the line. ie [IMG] rather than IMG]. When uploading if I remember correctly simply clicking on the address will select all of it rather than doing it manually which might miss something as in this case I suspect it has. To be honest I upload so often I don't think about it.

Excellent idea. I just wonder if you are getting the best from your background and would a slightly tighter crop, from the sides, be worth considering?

Did you try any other camera angles? But not a lot different from this. I'm just thinking about trying to get a fraction more apparent 'depth' to the scene.

Hi Dusty,

I think it's an especially beautiful image, beautifully photographed, lovely light, and very creative. I can imagine all kinds of positions that would be fun to play with, especially so with a variety of some beautifully polished silverware pieces.

The image looks a little bit crooked to me, ie; the egg is straight but the surface seems angled. And I would crop a wee bit off of the right hand side perhaps because I prefer it less symmetrical.

Great concept and effectively done! I like this style so much that I'll add some ideas for your consideration.

I like the simplicity a lot and wonder if you would consider making it even more simple by eliminating the dark area on the far right side.

The forks are lit really well but you might want to consider changing the lighting on the egg. The frontal lighting disguises the true shape of the egg by "flattening" the front. If you light it from the side, you'll display the shape of the egg more. If you also move the light as far away from the egg as possible while retaining whatever brightness you prefer, you'll also display the texture in the egg more.

Regarding the symmetry, also consider either placing the egg dead-center or a little more to the left. Also consider using two forks that are exactly alike; notice that the handles are different.

Why is the tabletop tilted? It seems to me that it should be either more tilted or level.

To add a bit of drama without detracting from the subject, consider using a stronger gradient in the background.

The concept is so good that I hope you'll make another version!

I like the color coordination between the egg and the background. Consider sharpening with a lower radius, or somehow avoiding the black-and-white line that can appear around smooth edges when applying sharpening, which I think I detect around the lower part of the egg. Good imagination with this one.

This is marvellously simple and original. I might want to eliminate the darker patch on the right and I would think about lighting the egg more to the side.

I would remove the darker patch on the right though, its distracting and I think that will give the image more of an abstract feel.

I cannot add anymore to what has already been said so I will just say you choose a simple, lovely concept...

Personally I feel the darker areas help but one side is too dark. I'd hesitate to say that the lighter one should be darker as vignette type effects generally shouldn't be too strong. Often barely detectable but I thing fairly obvious is good for this one it helps and this type of effect always draws the eye. The cropping suites this too.

Tilted table - not so sure. I suspect it's the surface features being out alignment with the subject / angle of the shot and criticisms in this area are mostly I feel photographers looking rather than ordinary people.

Forks - I wonder if they are the same and angles are different. Good - bad, not so sure. Eggs have a high degree of symmetry perhaps some lack of it elsewhere helps augment that. I suspect a judge might appreciate a bit of quirkyness but maybe the texture in the table is a little strident.
