Broken Hill
Broken Hill is a mining town, producing lead, zinc, silver, surrounded by land that is pretty much desert on the western edge of New South Wales.
BrokenHill
I wasn't sure how to present this but if you click on "Broken Hill" below the image you should get a high resolution version (13MB) from Flickr. This is a panorama made up from five different images, stitched together by Photoshop, which seems to have a done a good job without any input from me. The curve of the train is, I think, an artefact of the way the panorama was put together. I thought of trying to correct it but it would have been quite a challenge.
The photos were taken from the top of the spoil pile close by. I would not say that this is a place of great beauty but there are some good looking buildings which I did not get a chance to photograph properly. I enjoyed the exercise of making a wide panorama which I had not done before.

Re: Broken Hill
Nice captures, I wouldn't have noticed the curve of the train, believing it to be actual form.

Re: Broken Hill
Tony, I would have thought that the first image was shot with a fisheye lens...and since you have room to move there, the first shot could have benefited from shooting vertical instead of horizontal for more reach, about double the numbers or even a little bit higher shooting in vertical.
I like the overall view of the first shot and am interested to know what that second building on the right side is...

Re: Broken Hill
John, thanks for your comment.
Izzie, thanks to you too. In the second image, the buildings are a monument to the disturbing number of people who have died in accidents at the mine and, on the right, a visitor centre which is a bit kitsch. I am not sure I understand your comment about the panorama. The high resolution version of the file is 12,388 x 2,354 pixels. I had to crop the top and bottom a little after the stitching was done because the edges were a bit jagged. My monitor is a 27 inch, 2560 x 1440 pixels, so that the resolution of the image, even at full screen and zoomed in so that it is full height, is still better than the monitor. It starts to look good to me then. It is probably not suitable for posting on the forum like this.
