    Excellent idea. Go for it.

And, whilst we're here to engage in constructive criticism, are we not being a wee bit too nit-picky on this shot?

If I had the resources and ability to produce this sort of stuff, I'd be quite content.

That's a good start - although - I DO often feed images through to Photoshop from ACR with the black clipping point set a fraction too low (so I have something to play with when using a levels control in Ps), so the grayscale here is a LITTLE on the light side.

In all of them, the flash seems to be uneven on the subjects, too much on the left of the picture, and less on the right side of the picture. Is that supposed to be so?
Yes - it's supposed to be that way, as it's supposed to be "more flattering". If the lighting is even then it's termed "flat" lighting. To be honest, I like both, but this way implies a direction of the light source (just like it would in the real world). A good example of it is this shot ...

It is not easy to be too nit-picky with just everyone. On Colin's work (and a few others here) I always assume that what he does has a good reason, so I just bypass that part of the question and say what I think about the picture and I am sure I will learn something new when he responds. And I am comfortable being picky on Colin since I know he can easily handle criticism from someone like me And lastly, it is his own fault to get us used to super high quality work, then this is what happens! People are all over his pictures with questions!

They look happy Colin; great job and perfection to me. I don't like the background though, probably just grey would be better. But the absolute most important thing is they look happy. Cheers
