Just my thoughts on an image that I like.
I would crop out the sky and enough on the right side to place the horse in the right 1/3 of the frame. Then draken the highlights just a little.
Just me.
no i like that
These are cool shots- kind of cold too I could agree about a crop to move the horse over to the right, as for cropping the sky, I probably wouldn't, but then I am conscious that I tend to like atmosphere. You might try raising the shadows a little because the horses head is getting a little lost in the bushes behind it. I think I would also use the first of the two on the second image. Have fun with your snow
These look nice to me, especially since the temperature here has been in the high 30s (that's Celsius) lately.
Now that I see the second pair of pictures I wonder about the white balance of the first. This is sort of scene where it could be hard to get the correct exposure but these seem OK.
Man o man! High 30's feels good than 21°F (6.1°C), wind chill factor in the single digit yesterday morning. I wore double of everything except for my boots. I think I will spend the rest of our autumn and winter over there...I am jealous...
Matthew ... can you invest in higher diopters for your camera? It might improve your viewing before the shot. Your shots here are pretty good. I like them, especially the first one. On the second installment I like the second edit more as it has eliminated all the unnecessary part of the shot that doesn't contribute much to the picture.
Nice images I like #2 and #4 (cropped versions). For #4, I would reduce the highlights and exposure just a bit and I would add some contrast to the image.
I share Tony's perspective. 38C forecast for Friday again.
Hi Matthew
I like it pretty well. I think it is an improvement, though now I'm starting to see a little color fringing on the horse- sorry, I don't know how picky you like to be. Easy to correct in Lightroom. I might give it a modest sharpening too, if it was mine.
unfortunately i dont have lightroom -- i tried in Raw therapy but i'm still in first grade with it... the original was over exposed and the focus wasn't that good i but that could just be my own eyes getting old......./ i do have darkroom on an old laptop running Ubuntu i dont know if they have the same functions or not

The correction for color fringing, (which I see as blue edges on what should be the white back of the horse) is in the "lens Corrections" area of Lightroom. In lightroom you have sliders you can slide towards blue or purple and remove color fringing easily. Sorry, I don't know specifically what's available in RT, but I would think there is something to address color fringing.
i looked at these on another computer and i can see what you mean -- i am getting a new computer put together in the near future
Of course, a new computer will help your visual experience of photos mostly only if you get a better monitor, when I got a new computer set-up for photo editing recently I wanted to make sure I got an IPS monitor, as I heard they have better color representation, and I think it does. Some people like to calibrate their monitors, I haven't yet, but I have at least attempted to visually attempted to.
