You have to remember to dry well after though in a dust free atmosphere like an airing cupboard

Re: The best way to clean your lens and camera
No joke, I actually did that once to my Nikon D700 and 24-70mm f/2.8 minus the hose at the end.
I was shooting in Antigua and the gear swam in the ocean for about a minute. Figured what was the harm in giving it a bath afterwards in an attempt to remove all the salt water from everything.
After the bath, threw it in some rice for two days. Camera worked, lens worked, all was good.
Just sold the camera and lens last month after two years of use following that incident. Didn't notice any degradation or problems with either.

Interesting thing is that if it was de-ionized water and no detergent was used (which would defeat the use of DI water), it wouldn't hurt the camera or lens.
The hard part would be drying it, but there are methods for that too.

The bubbles coming out when placed in the water would be a good way for Jeremy to test his water proof gear - no bubbles - no water ingress. Any bubbles send it back to the manufacturer.
