Indeed the blue perfect, and absolutely gorgeous!

I was paying you the highest of compliments, and trying to word that compliment in an interesting manner instead of saying something like absolutely gorgeous!

The highlights are beautiful (as is the colour blue) and the detail is amazing.

The blue colour is like beautiful glass, and every minute detail (shadows, highlights, tones) begs to be explored... ie; just like Mike's images

And of course the shapes and forms... and an overly active imagination.

I thought blue was the obvious choice. You know, cool color temp, ice and all!

I am at a loss as to how this might remind someone of wine bottles, but hey!

That’s what makes the World go round!

John, for something really similar, set up your camera to shoot below the surface of an aquarium. Tilt the camera up a bit to include the underside of the surface. Add a strong back light. Drop some ice in it and take your shots. Turn the resulting photo upside down.

    Interesting post Andrew!

Please do post your shots using this concept. I’d be hugely interested in how how you handle this described technique in your studio. I am somewhat familiar with it, if only basically!

I wonder if there is more to it than what you have described and it might be a service to the Forum (certainly to me) if you wouldn’t mind giving us some further information on your techniques and the shots you have done using it?

It would be cool if we could open a dialogue exchanging information? There are a couple of folks here I think are interested in your thoughts (besides me of course).

Don't have a studio. I simply gave a suggestion on how I've seen similar shots done in the past. Mostly with dyes. If you are interested in things like that give it a shot and play with it.

Do a Google search for 'photo dye water'. You will lots of examples and instructions on the processes.

Thank you for that suggestion Andrew.

Had a look at your google suggestion. Interesting stuff and looks like another fun way to make a mess!
