    New to the Forum #2

Hello all I am new to the forum and looking for ways to better my photography! I love taking photos of just about everything. Here are a few of my shots. Please feel free to critique or offer suggestions for improvement. I use Aperture for editing as I have no clue how to use Photoshop. Look forward to learning from ya'll and getting to know you!

    Hi Barbara,

Welcome to the forum. Nice efforts, the first could have been improved by timing the shot to not have the roof juxtaposing with the main subject. In the second, the sloping stones on the left could be eliminated. Nice bird portraits.

Thanks for the feedback! Remembering to pay attention to the other things in the background is something I definitely need to work on. I think I get so excited about the shot I forget to look at more than just my subject

Not a lot wrong with these photos.

I would have cropped #1 slightly tighter at the bottom, possibly with a different size ratio, to reduce the background distraction a little.

And done the same thing with #2 except crop from the top.

#3 & 4 are fine; although possibly cropped just a fraction on the close side. But sometimes you have to do this to lose something from the background.

#5 is good. You could, if you so wanted, selectively add a little brightness but not on the sky. However, I don't really have any problems with the current scene.

ps. how are you uploading these images?

The Tinypics option allows you to post slightly larger photos which can be placed individually into the post.

Geoff, thanks for the kind words and suggestions. I am not the most computer literate so I just added the photos the only way I could, lol. I have put some photos in an album here hoping to use those but that did not work out for me. Any tips on how to do Tinypics would be greatly appreciated!

CinC does have a rather complicated method for uploading photos compared with some other sites, but apparently there are good technical reasons for this. However, once mastered, most members soon become adept with the complexities.

I'm from a pre digital age so initially struggled with these oddities.

However, have a read of this thread where everything is explained in simple terms.

Hi Barbara, those are nice images indeed, in fact some of those birds appear to pose as if they were your pets. Welcome to CiC.

Ah, nice Hummer shot there. I'll have to post some of mine from this past summer.
You can edit your original post to show the photos correctly, or rather, larger.

Thanks! I edited, I think I might have the hang of it now.
