    They will chase you and try to have a peck at you. Some say they can inflict serious injury by kicking out at you but I think that's a bit of an urban myth.

    That's not a barn in the background, it's the house on the property. Also with the very strong daytime light producing large contrast differences I have already lightened the dark side of the emu and it's left eye as you look at it.
    I personally also like the way the eye colour almost matches the colour of the house.

    Urban myth? Back in my film days in '98, we went for a visit at Healesville Sanctuary and my friend and I had just sat down for lunch when two of these birds came and partook our meals ... It was a photographers' delight and all of us who has cameras took sequenced shots of their antics....We thought it was funny at the time but when we came back several years later, those emus were gone. We asked around where they were and we were told they have been transferred "somewhere" because some visitors complained that they were a nuisance. The same with the friendly budgies in the bird areas...
