    Haida

The Haida is one of the original nations who lived in North Western Canada for thousands of years before the arrival of Europeans. They lived, and still do, in Haida Gwaii formally known as Queen Charlotte islands , off the coast of Vancouver BC. Canada. Archaeological evidence indicate that they occupied Haida Gwaii for over 17,000 years. The Haida were noted for their seamanship.

I assume that this is the HCMS Haida. Looks a touch larger than a Haida war canoe.

Hamilton ON does not look anything like Haida Gwaii....

You are right. HMCS Haida. I have not seen Haida Gwaii so I cant comment, but I am sure you are right. Mind you there is a lot more about Hamilton than meets the eye. People tend to see only the view from the bridge... I assume your pic is of Haida Gwaii?

I've been to Hamilton quite a few times, but the last time I was on the HMCS Haida is when she was still at Ontario Place. Yes, the shot is S'G̱ang Gwaay, the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Gwaii Haanas National Park on Haida Gwaii; on Anthony Island. It is a really stunning place, but not particularly easy (or cheap) to get to.

That was a nice shot and good conversion though I am not really keen on B/W per se as I am too inexperienced in the process.

Great conversion, indeed. Strong shapes and interesting textures. I wonder... did you "see" B&W when you captured this? As often the case, it would be interesting to see a reasonably processed color version to better appreciate the starting point and processing in producing a fine monochrome result.
