    yet another milkweed

Some time ago, a number of people suggested a looser framing of a milkweed. I tried this one just as it fell apart. You can see some motion in the filaments at the top, despite my best intentions.

22 photos, stacked with Zerene PMax.

    C&C welcome, as always.

A nice presentation of the silkiness of the milkweed seed. Sounds like it took some effort. I am not quite sure what part of the plant is shown or where the pod is though?

Nice shot, Dan -- I enjoy this one just like the silkiest shot you uploaded the other week or so...

Thanks, all. Nick, this particular species has a long, narrow pod that stands up almost straight on the plant and splits open while still green. I picked this one when it was partly open. The top of the pod is on the left of the photo. It's held by a Wimberley Plamp (the old version) on the right, out of sight. I simply left it there for several days while it continued to dry out and open more. I decided to take another shot when the seed on the bottom was barely hanging on.

Interesting. Perhaps not the familiar wild milkweed species of my area.

Nick, here is a shot of the more common version around here. They get rounder as the open more.

Very nice! I love milkweeds and similar plants as photographic subjects. The falling seed at the bottom made for a really nice composition.
