    Giant Buddha - Bhutan

Bhutan is very much Buddhist country, so it should not come as a surprise that a giant 51.5m / 170ft giant Buudha statue is currently being built up on a hill, just outside of the capital city, Thimpu.

Nicely done, you seem to have a knack for getting the history behind your shots, I usually have to photograph plaques just to remind myself of where I was at that particular moment.

I am the same as you, John...with many photographs to go through especially for a long trip, I would have forgotten what this will be but a giant Buddha.

Good shot, Manfred. I am really enjoying these.

I have 40 photos of Buddhas in Thailand and none of them have the painted areas as done in this giant Buddha. None of the Buddhas that are outside have the tonal separation of the clothing and the skin of this Buddha. Very interesting!

That's a nice image Manfred. The sky has given you a perfect backdrop.

John - I do exactly the same thing. I will also mark up my travel guides and will take notes. Remembering things from this trip was made a bit easier as we kept an up-to-date blog, so I have a reference source with images to go back to.

As my wife and I travel, she records everything we do, everywhere we go and the dates we do them. I also photograph signs, close-ups of specific points on maps, and pages of our guide books. I then catalog our photos in the order that we took them, using all of that information. Every once in a while I get stuck and have to look up the name of something on the Internet.

Very nice shot of a very nice Buddha Like Mike, I didn't see such a Buddha statue in Thailand when I visited there years ago . But they might have had some new ones since then.
