Notice that the bright white areas of the birds lack detail. Carefully select those areas and then apply a really strong reverse S-curve to them to bring out the detail. If you're not familiar with the kind of curve I'm referring to, I've shown it below.
Better yet, take a look at Joe's bird photography and the light that works best. This is very tough light for shooting birds with so much white in their body.[/IMG]
