Thank you, Binnur! I haven't begun food photography yet but plan to some day. I can't imagine that I can't learn a few things from the PDF you provided, so I have already downloaded it.

    Binnur...

You were faster than I was. I also got an email regarding the free food photography eBook.

I am going to download it later today...

However for folks who may be interested in food photography over the Holidays, here are some links...

Note: I have visited all of these sites lately so they are all active...

    Food Photography

    O’Reilly Digital Media
    http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/orei...od_photos.html

    Silverace Photogrnic Food Photography

    Michael Ray – Food Photographer

    Nikon Imaging

    Digital Photography School

    National Geographic

    Serious Eats
    http://www.seriouseats.com/2011/04/g...otography.html

As always, YouTube has a plethora of instructional videos on any subject, including food photography.

    https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...od+photography

And, as always, the videos range in quality from excellent to indifferent. I have not viewed all these videos but, if i were needing to get a quick course in food photography, I would devote an hour or two to watching a couple of them...

Final note: There are really at least two different types of food photography. Photographing the food that had been prepared and which someone will eat AND professional food photography for magazine layouts and for restaurant menus. In the latter venue, the food is often prepared for photography in a way that makes it inedible (but very photogenic).

Among the ways you get inedible but, photogenic food is to use brown liquid shoe polish to emulate the grill sear marks on steaks and to use vegetable shortening (Crisco is one brand) to emulate vanilla ice cream. BTW: Always use phony plastic ice cubes in lieu of the real thing. They don't melt!

Sure it is expensive to prepare food only for the camera but, if the picture will encourage people to order the real stuff (like with a menu illustration) it is worth it. Besides, the price of a steak is rather low in comparison to the photography fees (professional shoots often have several people involved both on the food prep side and on the lighting and shooting side)...

Correct color balance is an absolute necessity in food photography! Few things are more unappetizing than a steak tinged with green. I would strongly suggest shooting in RAW and including a color reference in every series with the same lighting. I use a WhiBal card and get pretty accurate color balance by using the white balance eye dropper in ACR...

Another advantage to shooting in RAW is that you can do a lot of distortion correction in ACR. You can do a lot to keep round plates looking round, etc...

Finally, neatness and cleanliness is also paramount in food photography... Plates, silverware, glassware, tablecloths and napkins should be pristinely clean! Plates and tablecloths/napkins should also complement the type and color of the food served...

I've seen lots of appealing phood photos (or is it food fotos?) in which the crumbs of food are an important part of the scene.
