    Travel Around The Countryside

I took a drive into the so called scenic rim area west of Brisbane this afternoon to visit a lavender farm/vineyard which also has a nice restaurant I'm told (it wasn't open when I got there) ! Anyway, here are a few shots from the afternoon outing. Hope they provide a bit of the flavor of the Australian countryside.

Unfortunately the lavender wasn't in flower and I should have used a larger aperture for the kangaroos to get some bokeh but I had to act fast to get them.

The scenery in no. 4 is stunning David and similar to some parts of Europe (different trees of course). Seems to me that the 'roos have been taught to pose. You couldn't have arranged them better. Nice set.

Very refreshing images. They look like summer. Here, that already feels like long ago and we're heading into winter. I liked them all. The kangaroos were cute. Did you do anything special to capture the clouds so well? A polorizer filter, or blended exposures? You got both land both land and sky exposed really nicely.

Thanks John, Binnur, John and Nick.

Nick the clouds were pretty co-operative to start with but I did bring out the details in pp. In particular, I used some Local Contrast Enhancement with the Unsharp Mask and also the Nic filter Detail Extractor in Colorefex Pro.

I didn't use a polariser because I've had mixed results with them but a polariser would do similar things with the clouds.

I like the light in the 2nd and 5th, Dave. I wonder if the storm clouds could be given a bit more drama in the last one.

    Thanks Greg

I'm sure the clouds could be given a bit more drama. I haven't really spent a lot of time on pp with these shots and I dare say I'll be re-visiting them again.

Great shots from Brizzie Dave. But what does not come across from these shots for me, and which I suspect, is that it was probably hot and humid enough to shrink and shrivel your footie socks. Brizzie's climate tends to be that way; hot enough to bend a banana. Now, if you could be one of the privilged few of us 'Southern Mexicans' living down in Victoria, 'God's Own Country,' and not a Banana Bender, then....

Thanks for commenting Ken. It was quite hot and quite hazy. I tried to get rid of the haze as best I could in pp so this might explain why it doesn't look particularly hot.

Victoria has been known to get a wee bit hot too Ken, and tell me, why is it that so many "Mexicans" have moved up here to the Gold Coast or Noosa ?

Anyway, must go and bend some more bananas ...

Good set Dave, it's always interesting to see somewhere else. It's No 4 for me with the audience.

Now I understand why people I know that have visited Australia have nothing but good things to say about the place. Excellent pictures; must put on my to visit places.

Thanks Grahame and Tom. I'm quite pleased with 4 too Grahame. Tom in fairness, not all parts of Autstralia look like this. There are some areas particularly in the outback, that are fairly un-inspiring ! But I guess even those areas have their own beauty in a different sort of way.

Of all the animals I particularly enjoy are cow shots. The ones here are beautiful to say the least. They seemed to be mesmerized by what you are doing... All pretty shots of a beautiful place, Dave.
