Sikh Guards at the entrance to the Golden Temple at Amritsar

The barefooted Sikh guards with a spear and turban were seen all over the Golden Temple complex. Head coverings are mandatory for everyone entering the Golden Temple, not just for Sikhs as is going barefooted. You have to walk through water to clean your feet to get to the entrance. Shoes are checked (for free) before you get to the entrance.

I decided to go monochrome on this image as there the brightly coloured carpets detracted from the image.

Nicely captured, the mono version looks more vintage; although a bit of grain would make it look more artsy.

I like them both. The guards draw my attention so much that the colorful carpets don't distract in #2

I also like them both... The yellow turbans are what attract my attention right off. This is beneficial since my eye is lead to the faces of the guards. The running man, image left, attracts less of my attention in the color image than in the B&W version...

This time I prefer the Black and White version over the coloured one, Manfred. I thought at first that this will be a good candidate for selective colouring of the guards but after seeing the coloured version, I changed my mind. I like the way it is in B/W. Lots of history tell on the wall too. The "running man" wasn't really running, was he? or you just caught his foot midway to his next step? I think it is the latter...It is a good shot. The only things that it missed between the conversion was the golden hat of the boy at the back of the "running man" and the colour of the sword of the soldier.
