Fishermen at dawn
This is a hand-held shot (1/10 sec at ISO 3200 at around 05:00 in the morning) taken at the edge of Kaziranga National Park in Assam, India. We were waiting for our sunrise elephant ride (the mahout had slept in), so we watched a most unusal way of catching fish while we were waiting.
The monsoon rains had ended a few weeks earlier, so the area was still quite wet. The fishermen had divided up the small pool with an earthen dam. They used scoops made from old cans with wooden handles to shovel water from one pool to another. This left the fish high and dry; they went around and picked them off the ground by hand.
All of the water that they were scooping was thrown into the adjoining pool through a net, which would prevent the fish from being transfered along with the water. The small amount of motion blur with the two people shoveling water was expected.
It looked like a lot of hard work for some fairly small fish...

Re: Fishermen at dawn
Very nice image and the story is very interesting For hand held, ISO 3200 and 1/10 sec , the IQ looks good You must have used a really good camera and also you must be really skillful to avoid the camera shake.
PS. I don't care about the noise, it doesn't look bad .
