the scent is really atrocious and the name makes even more sense when you see the red and orange variety.

We call them lantana in Aus and they're not something you want to get tangled up in. They are also classed as noxious weeds here. We used to pick the flowers and throw them at kids we didn't like. That'd be politically incorrect these days.

That it would be. But they are pretty and they are butterfly and caterpillar magnets so we keep some in the garden.
