John - in much of my street photography work, I tend to go for a style that tends to be more of what I sometimes refer to as "street portraiture", where the subject is the primarly objective and I only put enough of the environment in to place them. A lot of street photography tends to be about the setting and often I find that the subject and environment are given either the same weighting and in many instances the subject seems to be less important than the environment.
A recent posting;
Hindu priest sitting at the temple of another hindu priest is all about the priest, with enought of his environment to place the location in the viewers mind.
When I took this shot, I decided I needed to mix things up a bit and make the shot as much about the location as the people in the image.
