Bruno came back to visit us...

This is Bruno when he arrived from the San Bernardino, California shelter. We rescued him on the day he was to be euthanized. He was going to be killed because they never bathed or groomed him and he was a filthy mass of vermin matted fur. No wonder no one wanted to adopt him! Few people could look past that dirty lump of coal to see the diamond hidden beneath...

He has been adopted into a wonderful furever home. His furever mom and dad took a short trip and we had the opportunity to doggie-sit for this darling boy. I took a quick Christmas photo of Bruno whose name is now Rudy.

When I say a "quick picture", I really mean "QUICK" Rudy's mom was coming for him at 9:30 AM and my wife mentioned (at 8:45 AM), "I'd really like a Christmas picture of Rudy!" The setup and the shoot took about twenty minutes. That's a record for me....

We doggie-sit for dogs who have come through our home as fosters. The minimal fees we charge the furever parents go to purchasing food and treats for our foster dogs...

He's a cutie, Richard...breaks my heart each time I learn some shelters just do not care for them at all...and looks like he is now well cared for by his new parents.

We are using a variation on this image as our group's Christmas greeting card.

Excellent story, Richard. It is great to hear of dogs (or indeed any other animal) where their lives have taken a bad turn, being rescued and their lives being turned around.

Do you feel some folks look on Maltese as "sweet little dogs" and do not think they need all the normal looking after, attention, consideration and exercise of any other dogs?

    Dave,

Unfortunately part of the beauty of the Maltese or Maltipoo is their lovely coats. But these coats need care and can really look ratty if not given that required care...

Wash and wear dogs like Chihuahua and most Chihuahua mixes, such as Joey, never seem to look ratty even when they haven't been bathed or groomed. Of course they also benefit from care...

Bruno came back to visit us...

Sasha, the terrier mix, has a longer coat than Joey but doesnt need a lot of grooming either, Her favorite activity is to chase rabbits through our Rosemary growing on the bank in our yard. That keeps her smelling great without frequent baths...
