    Deer, Geese and a Nuthatch

More photos from my pile of "To Do" edits.

Taken from a very popular trail nearby. I've seen 22 deer there during a single 30min hike. This guy surprised my friend and I. We turned a corner and he was right there. We stopped and he actually started to walk towards us. Before we could move some kids down the trail made a bunch of noise and he took off.

Lastly, a nuthatch who forgot which way is up.

    All c&c welcome.

Hi Kyle, they are all very nice but I fell in love with #4, what a cuty

PS. Do you have a bit more room at the top of #4?

    All good.

Possibly with #3 the backlighting is a fraction strong which is making the grass a little bit distracting.

Agree with Binnur about #4. A fraction more space at the top and maybe less at the bottom. But there may be a good reason for the current crop.

And I wonder about a bit of a crop from the top of #5 to concentrate more on the bird by losing some of the background distraction.

Nice set, Kyle. Great detail on the deer. Though I don't think the pronoun you used in commentary matches the gender. I agree with others that the second gosling is nice and could use a bit of adjustment to the framing. The chosen crop on the last image is a bit off IMO. First, while I understand the selection of verticle, I'm not so sure that the long aspect ratio works. Second, centering the bird's eye overall would give it the classic "looking into the frame" position and eliminate some space and potential distrating elements at top of frame. Overall a worthwhile set of shots. Nicely done.

Noisy naturists are one of my pet peeves. What's even worse than just noisy trekkers are excited spotters who yell out "Ooh look a rabbit".

    Nice captures.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Here's the updated photos based on your suggestions. I toned down the background in the first and played with the crop of the other two.

That looks better to me, Kyle.

With care, and a little skill, it should be possibly to clone out the upper part of that distracting leg in the second gosling photo.

Nice shots, Kyle. Everyone has already covered anything I might have said. I like your edits. I really love the first gosling shot. The DOF looks great!

Re: Deer, Geese and a Nuthatch

Just a quick example of a clone job. I put a fairly large selection (3 pixel feather) around the general area where I cloned in order to protect the bird etc from accidental damage/excessive feathering.
